Is it usually covered by health insurance? I know that personal therapy is covered for us so does that mean that marriage counseling would be too?

Sometimes counseling is covered by your insurance. You need to talk to your primary care physician and he will recommend someone for personal therapy. He can also determine if it is covered in your insurance.
Other options are: check with your pastor or minister (sometimes they counsel for no charge) or they can recommend someone for you to see.
The last option is check with your insurance provior. They can tell you what is covered and what is not.
Good luck!

Talk to your insurance provider. I use United Healthcare, which is awesome. They provide a website, where you can search for a doctor by location and specialty. I found a doctor for marriage counseling that is located somewhere between my office and my wife’s office. So we can meet on a lunch break for a session.

More than likely you will have to pay out of pocket. Some churches offer free marriage counseling. The following website should direct you to a marriage counselor in your area http://family-marriage-counseling.com/.

Check with your insurance coverage of where you can go..usually health insurances have listings of agencies on their list, then you can chose one and make a call..or check with your representative for where you can go.

some HMO will cover about ten “mental health” visits a year per person covered. give the 3 a call on the back of the card.
I had my HMO cover 20 a year.
not that it worked but at least I didn’t have to pay for the lousy advise I got.

the best thing to do is call your insurance company and ask if they cover marriage counseling
